Benjamin P. Ford, Ph.D. - Principal Investigator

With over 20 years of experience as an archaeologist, Ben Ford brings a comprehensive range of skills to Rivanna Archaeology. In addition to directing numerous archaeological investigations, Ben has also conducted research on prominent Virginia and national cultural landscapes and regional greenway projects. He earned a B.A. in Anthropology in 1984 from Connecticut College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in 1998 in Anthropology at the University of Virginia.



Stephen M. Thompson, Ph.D. - Principal Investigator

Steve Thompson has more than 20 years of archaeological field experience encompassing a diverse array of project types. He has directed archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery projects focused on both historic and prehistoric contexts throughout Virginia in addition to having considerable field and research experience abroad. Steve also has more than 10 years of experience in the use of GIS technology within archaeology. He earned a B.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Archaeology from the University of Sheffield, UK.
